Which are the best Italian wines?
Some might say the best Italian wines are any Italian wines! This Italian wine guide will help you sort through all the great varieties to choose the ones you might best enjoy.
First we must determine the different types of Italian wine. I will be focusing on these main groups: red, white, sparkling and dessert wines. Red wines will include Sangiovese, Barolo, Lambrusco, Chianti and Pinot Nero, just to name a few. To learn more information about the best Italian red wine varieties click here. There are also a large array of white Italian wines, some of which are Moscato, Pinot Grigio and Verdicchio. Find out all about white Italian wine varieties here.Sparkling Italian wine is then next type to be discussed. Light and bubbly these often make an appearance at the holidays and celebrations including New Years, Christmas, weddings and showers. Some of the most famous are Prosecco, and my favorite Asti Spumanti. Beyond the normally consumed Italian wines lies the world of Italian dessert wines. These tend to be very sweet and so are best consumed in small quantities. Some types of dessert wines are Malvasia and Moscato. All of these different varieties of wine are delicious, and the best thing to do to find the kind you like is try as many as you can! Of course, the best wine is the one you share with those closest to you, so I encourage you to gather your friends and family and have a wine tasting celebration...and don't forget the formaggio!
