Classic Cheese Pizza Recipe
This cheese pizza recipe is the most basic type anyone can make. To it you can add a variety of toppings, from fresh sliced mushrooms to Italian sausage to even caviar if you wish! The possibilities are endless, as will be your love for this authentic dish! Serves 4
Ingredients
1 lb peeled plum tomatoes, fresh or canned
(or basic tomato sauce recipe)
1 recipe Pizza Dough
(or store-bought dough), rolled out
1 3/4 cups fresh mozzarella cheese, diced
dozen leaves of fresh basil, torn into small pieces
3 tbsp freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
salt and ground black pepper
Preheat your oven to 475ºF. Roll out your dough as indicated in the
pizza dough recipe.
Using a pastry brush or spoon, coat the dough with the olive oil. Evenly sprinkle the garlic powder, salt and pepper over your dough. Purée the tomatoes in a food processor or blender. When it is sufficiently blended, spread the tomato sauce over your prepared dough. Sprinkle evenly with mozzarella cubes (shredded mozzarella can work just fine here too). Sprinkle the pie with parmesan cheese and dot the surface with basil. Place the pizza in the oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from heat, slice up and serve! Yum!
