This chicken parmesan recipe is one of those iconic Italian dishes that everyone knows and loves.
Although it has taken many shapes and forms in restaurants across the world, at heart it is a simple dish using pure and satisfying ingredients.
This famous Italian main course is sure to become one of your favorite meat recipes.
So the next time, instead of serving plain old chicken, transform your main dish into a soul satisfying meal of this heavenly Chicken Parmesan.
Preheat your oven to 350°. Lightly grease a medium baking sheet. Pour the beaten eggs into a shallow bowl. Mix together the bread crumbs, oregano, salt and peper in a separate shallow bowl. After tenderizing each piece of chicken, dip them first in the egg, then into the bread crumbs. Place the coated breasts on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 40 minutes, or until the center of the breast is no longer pink.
Pour half of the tomato sauce into a medium glass baking dish. Line the chicken on top of the sauce, and then cover with the remaining sauce. Sprinkle with the shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses and return the dish to the oven for an additional 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Just before serving, sprinkle the tops of the chicken with fresh basil...present it alongside or on top of a heap of al dente spaghetti and enjoy!
Start off the meal with something light, perhaps a cucumber salad or Bruschetta.
A side dish might be Risotto with mushrooms or a bed of pasta.
As for wine, I personally think you could go with either a white or a red because of the tomato sauce in this dish. Just choose your favorite!
And the dessert for this one should be Zabaglione or cheesecake, either of those work, in my opinion.
But really, you can pick and choose from each category to come up with your own menu to fit this all time favorite entree and your guests will still rave about it.
