Meat Lasagna Recipe
Love meat? Then this mighty meat lasagna recipe is perfect for you! A forkful will be all it takes to make you fall in love with lasagna all over again! (Not that you've ever fallen out of love with lasagna, I mean that is crazy talk!)
Ingredients 9 -10 sheets no-precook lasagna, or 1 box dry lasagna *just* slightly undercooked and drained2 cups tomato sauce1 lb ground beef, browned (but not dry)1/4 lb deli ham, sliced thin1/4 lb mortadella or prosciutto, sliced thin1/4 lb hard salami, sliced thin2 cups whole ricotta cheese2 sprigs fresh parsley, chopped - or 1/2 tsp dried parsley1 cup pecorino romano cheese, grated2 cups grated mozzarella cheese1 tsp garlic powdersalt and pepper
Combine the ricotta with the chopped parsley, garlic powder and a little bit of salt and pepper (about a tsp each). Pour enough sauce on the bottom of your pan to make a very thin coat. Lay down your first layer of pasta, making sure to overlap each piece with the next. Next pour on a scoopful of sauce. Make sure that the pasta is adequately covered. Sprinkle the ground beef in a thin layer over it. Spoon the ricotta over the meat layer. This can be a little tricky because the ricotta will stick a little and pull the meat on it, but if you do it gently with the back of a large spoon or spatula it can be done! At this point you want to start to layer your cold cuts. If you like you can pre-cut these into strips. Or you can leave them as whole slices if you want to make sure each bite of this easy lasagna recipe has a mouthful of each. I like to chop mine up because that way when I break off a piece of lasagna the whole slice of salami doesn't slide out with it. Layer on a little bit more sauce. Then sprinkle with the grated cheese, and cover the whole thing with the mozzarella. Repeat this process with another layer of pasta, meat, cheese, meat, cheese, etc. The final layer should be pasta, sauce and mozzarella. Cover with foil (spray the top of the foil with cooking spray first so it doesn't stick to the cheese). Pop into a 375 degree oven for approximately 40 minutes. If you like you can transfer the lasagna to the top rack about 5 minutes before it's done and set the oven to broil to brown the top layer of cheese. Remove the pan from the oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes. Serve warm. Sit back and enjoy this easy and tasty meat lasagna recipe!
