Olive Oil Dip

This olive oil dip is usually accompanied by a variety of fresh vegetables sliced and diced for easy dipping. But feel free to pair it with some crusty Italian bread or fried polenta squares as antipasti at your next dinner party!

Serves 6-8

olive oil, extra virgin olive oil, oil pouring

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil (this is by far one of the best: Frantoia - Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
  • salt and black pepper
  • 3-4 leaves fresh basil, torn into small pieces
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • This recipe is really easy. Just mix all of the above ingredients together in a small bowl, and you've an authentic and tasty dip! It's just that simple.

Cut up a red pepper, a couple of carrots, some fennel, cauliflower and celery, and arrange them on a platter to accompany your dip.

Or cube up some Italian bread (fresh or toasted) and pile it on a platter with your dip alongside...or think of your own alternatives and then munch, munch, munch away!

This dip is also an excellent replacement for butter at your every day dinner gathering. Olive oil is considered a "healthy fat", so don't feel guilty...indulge!
